Eastern Legacy - John Terlip

This ceramic piece is titled "Eastern Legacy"  and represents Asia as part of an exhibition called the "Seven Continents". It is impossible to capture all of the largest of all seven continents making up for 30% of the world’s landmass and almost 60% of the world’s population. Japan carried the influence for Eastern Legacy with its large lidded top, strong samurai shoulders, shields and delicate cherry blossoms. Texture and carvings were added with numerous applications of slips, underglazes and custom glazes.
