Artist Biography
Living beings are connected, or disconnected, through emotion. In my art, I access my own life experiences and emotions for my inventive inspiration. My mixed-media style of playful color, with bold form and texture, create a mood of intrigue and exploration for the viewer. My goal is to draw the viewer in and conjure some sort of emotion within them, whether it be awareness, questioning, or even a chuckle. The childlike side of my nature invents characters, places, and stories. In 2008, while managing the Escondido Children’s Museum, my love for the art of puppetry began. In the years to follow, I became a “Puppet Master” creating hand-made puppets and writing and producing puppet plays. One of my highlighted plays was “The Owl of Light”, a shadow puppet production at the Mary Miller theater in Lafayette, Colorado. I enjoy creating functional art as well, including artisan sling purses, earrings, wooden puzzles, and hand-painted furniture.
