Artist Biography
Helen Munroe is an award-winning fused glass and jewelry artist based in Ramona, California. Creative throughout her life, she has explored a variety of artistic mediums, ultimately finding her true passion in the color, movement, and light of glass. Helen works extensively with dichroic glass, drawn to its luminous shimmer and the way it shifts with changing light. She enjoys using heat to shape glass, creating texture, depth, and a sense of motion in her work. Elements of the natural world frequently appear in her designs, including ocean imagery seen in wave-inspired fused glass pieces and enamel jewelry depicting beach and coastal scenes. Her palette is also influenced by sunsets and the landscapes of the Southwest, where she grew up. She believes art can be both functional and beautiful, and her work includes art jewelry as well as decorative and functional home décor. Helen is a Certified Instructor in Precious Metal Clay and enjoys teaching alongside her studio practice. Committed to continued learning, she regularly pursues new techniques and materials that enhance her work with glass. More recently, she has added custom pet portraits created with enamels on glass to her body of work. Helen has received multiple awards for her glass work and has participated in numerous juried exhibitions, including Galaxy of Glass at the Fallbrook Art Center and Reigning Cats and Dogs at Gallery 21. She was juried into the Spanish Village Art Center for fused glass and precious metal clay and works from Studio 34B in the Historic Spanish Village. She is a member of the Fallbrook Art Center Guild, the Art Glass Guild at Spanish Village, the Poway Arts and Crafts Guild, and 2Create Gallery.
