Susan
Frommer
Artist Biography
Susan Larisch Frommer’s creative journey is as richly layered as the mixed media pieces she crafts. Based in Murrieta, California, Susan's artistic endeavors began in childhood, inspired by a natural curiosity and a knack for transforming everyday materials into art. Her early experiments with homemade clay and natural dyes were the precursors to a lifelong passion for artistic creation. Despite a discouraging experience in first grade that momentarily sidelined her belief in her ability to draw or paint, Susan later embraced her creativity with renewed vigor, exploring various artistic disciplines throughout her life. Susan's multifaceted approach to art is informed by her diverse background in zoology and archaeology, fields that have cultivated her deep appreciation for the natural world and ancient cultures. These influences are evident in her work, where she often captures the stories told by weathered structures, rusted objects, and natural textures. Her artistic style is a testament to her keen observational skills and her ability to see beauty and narrative in the mundane. Susan works with a variety of materials including pastels, watercolors, acrylics, and an array of papers and found objects, creating pieces that invite viewers to explore and interpret layered meanings.
