Parker Franco (Vista, California)
Parker C. Franco is a young artist. As a special education student, he found inspiration in animation. With the assistance of art teachers at Mission Hills High School, he developed an interest in drawing and watercolor. Through the Adult Transition Program at the San Marcos Unified School District, Parker broke some new ground. He attended college level art classes at Palomar College and learned to attend and complete his work independently. Parker was encouraged and inspired by his mentor, Professor Doug Durrant, to draw each day and to live as an artist. Sadly, Professor Durrant unexpectedly passed away recently, but not before instilling confidence in a young man to overcome his challenges to follow his dreams and live as an artist. His watercolor "Summer Cabin" is his first work submitted for consideration of his peers. Parker envisions both joy and solitude: A place of beauty and the time to appreciate it.
