"Fanciful themes are the subject of most of my batiks. I believe that art can be fun and optimistic and still make a statement."
Using a new, modern approach to the old technique of batik, Sandra Grassi Nelipovich creates fanciful, intricate works of art with a primitive feeling. All batiks are original, one-of-a-kind, done in the traditional manner of alternately waxing and dying the silk fabric.
Sandra earned a BFA in Art Education, University of Illinois. She did graduate work at Northwestern University, Art Institute of Chicago, and Gonzaga University, Florence, Italy.
Her batiks are displayed in collections nationwide, including McDonalds Corporation and school and library systems. She has also shown her art in many invitational exhibitions and juried shows and has won numerous awards for her work.
