FALLBROOK – Seventy-five signed and numbered limited-edition prints by some of the world’s top wildlife artists will be offered for sale at the Fallbrook Art Center (FAC) from Aug. 13 through 28. There will be an opening reception on Aug. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. Attendees will enjoy refreshments and talks on wildlife art by Gary Johnson, Lee Kromschroeder and Paul Marto. Art talks will commence at 5:30 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
Guests also have the option of purchasing a "wild" dinner inside the center at the Café de Artistes from 5 to 7 p.m. which will include wild game and seafood including antelope, deer, bison, and wild salmon. (Call 760-728-3350 to reserve a place for this dinner).
The prints in the exhibition come from Dr. David L. Felten and his wife, Dr. Mary E. Maida, both affiliated with the University of Rochester, School of Medicine. The couple began collecting wildlife art in the 1980’s, and had the opportunity to purchase limited prints by notable wildlife artists that generally sold out the day they were issued. As their collection grew to well over 1,000 prints, the Felten’s decided to donate a sizable portion of their collection as many of these wonderful works of art were simply being stored in print cases and were seldom viewed by anyone else who could appreciate them.
The prints offered for sale include internationally acclaimed artists Robert Bateman and Ron (R.S.) Parker of Canada, and Guy Coheleach and Thomas Quinn of the U.S. Although known for their distinctive styles, these renowned wildlife artists are all recognized for their commitment to ecology and preservation and their dedication to field observation. Their artwork reflects years of experience observing the wild and gaining an intimacy with the daily behavior, attitudes and intelligence of the animals.
In addition, FAC’s supplemental galleries will feature Paul Marto’s fine art photography of local wildlife.
The Wildlife Art Print Show is open daily Aug. 13 through 28, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. Admission is free to the public. The Art Center is located at 103 S. Main, (760) 728-1414.
All prints presented are for sale and all proceeds benefit the nonprofit Fallbrook Art Center. All prints are offered at 75 percent off fair market value. For a full listing of all the prints offered, visit
