FALLBROOK – Record crowds have visited the World of Watercolor show currently on display at the Fallbrook Art Center since its opening reception Feb. 5.
The show is particularly unique because it features four water media exhibitions under one roof: the Second Annual Fallbrook Signature American Watercolor Show featuring 60 paintings, an exhibit that includes 33 original California Style Regionlist paintings, and two more exhibits featuring new watercolor works by four San Diego artists.
This year’s winners for the Fallbrook signature American Watercolor Show include:
• First Award $1,500 – ‘Quake’ by Helen J. Sherry, who passed away shortly after being accepted into the show. The award was accepted by her husband Michael McGee. A memorial grant award for the arts has been organized in her memory.
• Second Award $1,000 – ‘Bleeding Heart’ by Myrna Wacknov of Foster City, Calif.
• Third Award $750 – ‘A Brush with Fame’ by Marilyn Schutzky of Scottsdale, Ariz.
• Joan Roche Memorial Award $1,000 – ‘Road to Kiyomizudera Temple, Kyoto Japan I by Keiko Tanabe of San Diego.
• Erickson Family Award $500 to ‘Lunar Encounter’ by Lynne Kroll of Coral Springs, Florida.
The World of Watercolor show runs daily through March 27. Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 3 p.m. For more information, call (760) 728-1414 or visit
