|"Art resources are a benefit to local schoolchildren"|
What incredible resources we have in our own backyard to foster the arts in our children! Each year, the junior high students from Iowa Street School don their tennis shoes and embark on an art tour of Fallbrook. This year was another incredible experience. We traversed our village in search of the many "Art in Public Places."
After a stop at the Pinnell Gallery to view "miniatures" and vote on our favorite works of art, we meandered to the Fallbrook Art Studio where Bridgette treated us to a hands-on tour of ceramics, drawing, and the historical Fallbrook Fence. From here we visited the incredible foundry with Christopher, Brandon and Michael explaining the inner workings of how lasting art pieces are created.
The new library fencing and cover were part of our sneak peak into the finished project. Students were enthralled with the talents and expertise!
Then on to the town square where art and memorials surrounded our lunch break. After catching our breath, we were off to see Mary Perhacs at the Art and Cultural Show, Transforming Ink. Students were challenged to summarize the printmaking process as well as the art pieces that most attracted them. We spied several famous pieces previously studied in our class.
We finished our tour with a taste treat from the Sweet Sicilian.
Fallbrook has so much to offer our students. We appreciate all those who took time from their busy day to share their talents with our youth. You made a difference in our lives!
